Shopping in Barbados - Where To Shop For Vacation Souvenirs

Certainly, a Barbados vacation wouldn't be complete without shopping sprees. Shopping in Barbados is just among the things you will love doing in the island.

There are lots of places to go to when shopping in Barbados. There are plenty of duty-free malls, boutiques, chattel villages and even street shops where you will find rare pieces of jewelries and handcrafted items. Well, it would be obvious to find several shopping malls and shops in the nearby cities like Bridgetown, Holetown and Speightstown where locally made items such as clothing, mahogany carvings, jewelleries and basketwares are sold at the best deals. And of course, don't forget to bring a bottle or two of Barbados rum, a must souvenir to take home with you!

Your next stop should be Oistins. This is the heart of the Bajan fishing industry where you will find different fresh fish varieties. And not only that, you will be able to find more local crafts here sold in stalls and street shops. But, on Friday nights, Oistins comes alive with the Oistins Fish Fry, a weekly local event where visitors and locals alike enjoy a genuine Bajan dinner.

Another great place to shop for local crafts, food and drinks is the St. Lawrence Gap, also known as "The Gap". Here you will discover various street shops and wayside vendors, selling all kinds of stuffs that are locally produced. You should not miss shopping in The Gap's The Chattel House Shopping Village and the Walkers World because this is where some of the best buys are found.
