Florence: Bellissimo


Spend your holiday in the beautiful capital city of the northern Italian region of Tuscany called Florence, known locally as "Firenze.” This wonderful city is undeniably one of the most popular tourist spots in the world today, attracting millions of visitors every year. People are drawn by its expansive artistic culture, especially museums. Here are some places that you would surely not want to miss.



Explore the hidden knowledge of the old in their Academy Art Gallery/Galleria dell'Accademia. This museum was founded in 1784 and contains some of the most beautiful and important Florentine artworks on earth. Found here is Michelangelo's famous "David" statue and visitors will be able to view some of the finest works from the 13th­­–16th centuries.

The world famous Uffizi Gallery/Galleria degli Uffizi museum houses some of the most famous paintings on the planet, from Florentine and other Italian artworks to various foreign pieces. There is an astounding array of classical sculptures found here too and one of the most special and beautiful section of the gallery is the fascinating collection of Florentine Renaissance art, dating from approximately the 1300s to the 1500s.

Check out the gorgeous fifteenth century Florentine palace Palazzo Gondi, built by Giuliano da Sangallo from 1490 to 1501, and completed by Poggi centuries later in 1874. The courtyard in front of the palace is one of the loveliest from the Renaissance and be sure to check out the meticulous craftsmanship of the fountain.
